Within those six years, 5,760 cases were reported, leading to a total of 100,939 illnesses in several cities. And since these caused quite a widespread panic, the fact that they originated from many common consumables like chicken, fish, dairy, and pork were received with a significant amount of shock by the public. After all, the thought of one’s favorite food also having the possibility of being illness-inducing can lead almost anyone to a state of panic.
Throughout the series of outbreaks that occurred during 2009-2015, many people were hospitalized, and more than a few, unfortunately, died. Although most of these diseases often pose a minor threat to many, people like the elderly, the children, and those with weak immune systems are often the ones who suffer the most from this. And though the treatment needed to cure this disease is usually very expensive, the prevention, on the other hand, is an investment that requires little to no money.
In one way or another, this series of outbreaks helped people become more aware of how essential food safety is for their health and well-being. The road to safer meals for everyone is one that needs only a small portion of investment money from each person and starts in the comfort of one’s home.
